The Tennessee National Walking Horse Celebration in Shelbyville draws more than 100,000 visitors annually. That’s good news for our region, and so is the decision by Warren Wells, Celebration® CEO, to focus his leadership on growth and capital investment for events held in Shelbyville.

Tennessee Downs Auto Club, LLC is revved up, now in the planning stages for a campus focused on all things related to exotic cars. Project owner Jeremy Carpenter of G.C. Performance Classics envisions amenities such as regular service, painting, restoration, storage, and a concourse for performance testing. The project would create 160 jobs with $40 million in capital investment.

Shelbyville residents enjoy excellent options in both public and private education. Under the new leadership of Dr. Tammy Garrett, the Bedford County K-12 system is moving with intention and effectiveness toward the realization of its 2019-2024 strategic plan. A private boarding and day school with an enrollment of 400+, the Webb School serves students from 6th-12th grade with student-teacher ratio of 7:1, a graduation rate of 100% and 21 available Advanced Placement courses.

Higher educational resources include:

  • The Shelbyville Tennessee College of Applied Technology, with a new $43 million campus under construction to serve 500+.
  • MTSU Aerospace and Aviation program, which is planning a $62 million campus at the Shelbyville airport (also known as Bomar Field).
